Hello dear summer!

Monday, July 03, 2017

You have no idea how much I have been waiting for it. Time seemed to be standing still and that made me more and more impatient. But now it’s finally here – my favourite time of the year. The days are getting longer, temperatures are rising and – best of all and the main thing for me – I don’t have to carry half my wardrobe around every day any more. You see, I grew up in the mountains, and lots of people grin and tell me I should be used to the cold. But I really have to confess that I don’t think I ever will.

The summer months and the holidays that they bring mean it’s the season for us in Laax. Very soon now, starting from 30 June 2017, there will be all sorts of things going on in and around the signinahotel – children laughing, parents relaxing, music playing and lots and lots of action.

Planning and creating the new summer attractions have been in full flow for weeks. Excavators, tar-layers and many other construction machines have taken up residence on the piazza at the rocksresort. Urban Surfwave, Outdoor Box, geocaching and much more. It’s almost impossible to keep up with all the latest activities – but I’ll take a deep breath and take you through the list. Reto Poltéra, member of the management board of Weisse Arena Gruppe and responsible for the areas of sport and leisure, knows exactly how the land lies. That’s why he’s the man I turned to for an in-depth view of each of the activities.

Urban Surfwave
There is a new trend about to hit the starting blocks in the skateboarding community – known as surf skateboarding. It means surfing on a skateboard, shifting surfing from water to the street. And of course we have to keep up. Our Surfwave course is built of asphalt and consists of waves, troughs and a rounded basin, forcing skateboarders to continuously change their centre of gravity. It’s also great for bikes and scooters. FYI: you can hire boards in the new Outdoor Box.

A really fun way to spend your leisure time! Geocaching is also known as a GPS treasure hunt – a treasure hunt that uses geographic coordinates. There are more than 400 geocaches hidden in Flims Laax Falera. All you need to do is get hold of the coordinates from geocaching.com or the app, and then let the hunt begin.

Details about other offers and events are available on our website.

We firmly believe there will be a few battles, whether in the Surfwave or out geocaching.
